Rectilim is a Belgian injection moulding company located in Hasselt, Limburg. Today the third generation is already involved in running this family business. Thanks to our enormous ambitions and dedication we have been specialists for more than fifty years in mould design and construction right through to the injection moulding of plastic parts for a diverse range of industries.

Our history in a nutshell

The founder of our experienced Belgian injection moulding company: René Vandikkelen. Rectilim’s achievements today all started with him.

1963-1979:
In (his own) house

René Vandikkelen began grinding milling cutters as a secondary profession. He did so from his cellar. He chose to name his company Rectilim: a mixture of the French word rectifier (in reference to grinding) and the word Limburg.

His cellar soon grew too small and he moved to the garage at the back of his home. At this point he also began saw grinding. He employed the help of two extra people. In the coming years the company grew steadily: adding milling, turning and spark erosion to its repertoire, and drawing workpieces in the garage.

Then a new face: André Melotte, René’s nephew. Armed with a technical background in the metal processing industry André was soon a valuable member of the Rectilim team. With the help of his machines the company could now also develop and produce injection moulding moulds.

It wasn’t long until the first injection moulding machine emerged to produce 0-series with these injection moulding moulds. This machine was then used more and more to produce plastic parts. The demand for extra injection moulding machines just grew and grew, which meant it was time to move and expand even more. It was the start of our Belgian injection moulding company as we know it today.

1979-1990:
Factory in kiewit

The search for extra room ended in Kiewit, near Hasselt. A brand-new factory was built, with plenty of room for any later expansion.

The factory was also fitted with a covered area for medical applications. And some years later extra warehouse space was added.

1990-2014:
New expansion

The 1990s kicked off with a big new extension. The production area for the injection moulding machines and the warehouse facilities both underwent significant expansion. The injection moulding department moved to a new annex. This still accommodates most of our injection moulding machines today. In 1990 another family member, René Vandikkelen’s son, Jan, joined the company.

2014-…

Four years ago Rectilim underwent its most recent expansion. Once again, the production and storage facilities were increased in size. Rectilim also invested in a cleanroom. This has been where applications for the medical sector are produced ever since. In 2017, it was time for the third generation to come aboard, ready to guide the company through the challenges of the 21st century.

But our skills do not stop there. Rectilim, our family business, specialises not only in the injection moulding of small, technical and precision plastic parts, but also in developing and designing new products, designing, producing and maintaining moulds, and manufacturing precision components.
